Pictures

So I added a bunch of photos to my flickr site today (totally procrastinating at work, obviously).

I have to advise not looking at photos of friends while listening to sappy music because it's getting me all verklempt.

Or it could be that I'm 1) wearing BROWN and 2) wearing my glasses. It's totally throwing me for a loop.

Yay Frommers!

They chose another one of my pictures. Yay for me!

Tales from the Crazy Roommate Front

The ONE time that he returns the Netflix, I haven't finished watching it yet. BAH!

Britney's Live

It seems fitting that my 100th post is on Miss Britney, doesn't it?

Anyhoo, her album's streaming online now. Take a listen. You know you're curious...

Cracker Jack

Didn't the cracker jack prizes use to be much better? I just got a piece of paper with 2 science "facts" on it. Ooo. Fun.

I want my plastic boat that drives around when you add baking soda!

I guess I'll have to be happy knowing that there are over 1 billion bicycles in the world and that it takes a venus flytrap 10 days to digest an insect. (which...ew)

Camping!!

Last weekend a group of us went camping up in Wisconsin for two nights. After some struggles packing the car (camping requires more supplies than you'd think), we made it on the road and were up to the campsite by 5:30 or so. The place was great and the area was beautiful--lots of orange and yellow leaves.

Saturday a few of us went to New Glarus to the New Glarus Brewing Company. Had some Spotted Cow, Fat Squirrel, and a cherry beer that tasted like cherry pie filling.

Most of the weekend consisted of sitting around the campfire and just ch
illing out. It was a great weekend. Now I have to do laundry because all of my clothes smell like campfire. As does Sadie, I'm sure. (she got to go with and was very well behaved. Pretty much.)

Oh, and I shotgunned a beer for the first time. Good for me. (it was awesome)

12 of 12 October (8 of 12?)

12 of 12 time for October. Post 12 pictures of your day on the 12th of each month. Check out Chad's site for more details of his great idea and for pictures from folks around the world.

6:17am: The alarm went off and Sadie immediately pounced to make sure I got up. There's no hitting snooze around this dog.

6:20am: The thermostat. Since my roommate and I refuse to turn on heat yet (it was 85 degrees on Sunday!) it's a little chilly in the apartment. Outside temp is about 50 degrees.

7:01am: Sadie visiting with a neighbor dog on her morning walk.

7:11am: Waiting for the Milwaukee bus

7:49am: Made it to work. And early! Good for me.

8:39am: A little itunes shopping...11:11am: Proofing covers and interiors

And right about here, my camera stopped working. Many many fuzzy pictures of my desk over the next few hours. Below is the last picture my camera took before the lens got stuck out and I got full-on error messages. I guess getting dunked in Hawaiian punch isn't so good for the insides of cameras!

TOD: 6:28pm

Quick Update

My camera gave up the ghost on Friday, in the middle of my 12 of 12. It was very traumatic for me. How would I take obnoxious pictures all weekend! Very sad.

So I'll post my 7 of 12 later today or tomorrow once I receive the new camera.

Oh and Saturday: shopping and art, Sunday: cooking at eating all day, and yesterday: off of work.

Awesome weekend. Really very good.

Heh. Heh. I taste like beer. I like beer. Buy me a beer. I'm not drunk, I can drink plenty without... What was I saying? Beer. What Flavour Are You?

12 of 12 October is Tomorrow!

I can't believe it's been a month already.

Get your cameras ready...12 of 12 is tomorrow.

Holy CRAP!

So I'm poking around my Flickr site today and noticed that I had a LOT of views of one picture but no comments. Weird. I went to a group that I placed it in (frommers) and went to their website to see if they chose it for an article.

And they DID. And I didn't KNOW! (rude)

Here's the link. Wee! Totally fun.

Puppy-sitter?

Anyone want a dog? Just for one night? I'm exhausted and just want ONE night of uninterrupted sleep.

2:30 until 3:30am last night. Toys on my head, pillows pulled out, covers taken off, paws on my chest, and noses in my eye sockets.

The girl wanted to play.

I wanted to sleep.

She eventually got caged, but I felt bad about it. Luckily, she didn't cry, which is normally the case.

She's going on the mother of all walks tonight if anyone's interested in joining me. I'll be all over this city.

Yawn.

It's good thing she's cute.

Harry Potter #5

So I finally saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix last night. It was...good. I guess. There were moments where I was really excited to see what happened next and truly enjoyed the scene, but there were also a few things that I really missed. I guess that comes from reading the book. I know they can't put everything in the book in the movie, but I think the director/screenwriter missed some potentially poignant scenes. And they didn't use the amazing cast to their best abilities.

I love me some Snape in these movies--Alan Rickman was terrifically cast and every time he comes on screen, I enjoy every minute of it. There was much more of him in the book and I wish that had played out in the movie. And the climax of the movie just kind of...happened. It didn't showcase each of the kid's talents and show how they all fought the DeathEaters smartly and bravely.

I give it 3 stars out of 5. Good movie. But if you know the book, you'll see more of what was missing than what was there.

Oh, and Harry Potter is getting hot. And that's TOTALLY freaking me out. Ew.

Garlic

Oh, and I made a pasta sauce on Saturday and my hands STILL smell like garlic and shallots. Anyone (all two of you?) have any suggestions on how to remove that smell from skin? It's not horrible (to me) but it's pretty strong.

I swear, I've washed my hands at least 20 times since I cooked.

Weekend 10.6.07

Finally, the weekend! It was a long week due to lack of sleep last weekend and a full work week. Friday finally arrived and I headed out to Lemmings for our weekly gathering. What also seems to be weekly is my obnoxiousness with my camera. My friends are so patient. For that, I won't post the majority of the pictures that I've taken over the last few weeks. :) I'll even delete the ones that aren't so flattering!

I think this is the only reason why they let me get my camera out at all.

I got home around 12:00, walked the dog, and crawled into bed. and then realized that I forgot to close out my tab. Oh boy. Now, I KNOW that I could have left it for the next day, but I love this bar and really don't want to cause them any problems. And it's got to be annoying to have an open tab at the end of the night. So I put my contacts back in, dragged my bike down the stairs and rode off to the bar to close out my tab. Luckily no one was really on the roads at that time. I scared one person getting out of a cab when I sped past them, but other than that, it was an easy ride. And I closed my tab out after just a bit of teasing from Rusty (the bartender). Then I rode home and collapsed back into bed, sweaty (it was, like 75 degrees out!) and tired. And only a little drunk.

On Saturday, I took a quick trip on the Metra out to Downers Grove to have tea with the "ladies" of our family. Or at least a portion of them. It was at a cute little shop called Pinecone Cottage Tea House just steps from the train station. We headed in and once we were seated, Gramma had a little surprise for us--fancy hats and white gloves! We all donned our festive attire and giggled, took pictures, and ate fabulous food for the next two hours.
Sunday was SUPPOSED to be a trip to buy a sleeping bag for an upcoming camping trip and then out to see Harry Potter #5, but both things fell through. Alas. The movie will be tonight (I hope) and the shopping will be next weekend. Packed between an art show (go Bob!) and Sunday dinner at Terri's.

I'm sure the camera will be out in full force.

Blah

I'm still recouping after last weekend's debauchery. Oof.

I spent Saturday and Sunday in the 'burbs with friends from high school--some of which I haven't seen since high school. And then I drank too much. Not pretty. I'm FAIRLY sure I didn't embarrass myself too much, but I'm not the best judge of character when I've been drinking. I DO know that I was loud. Which is par for the course.

It was a good time. And, amazingly, I didn't take any pictures. I'm kind of disappointed that I didn't, but I was busy wrangling Sadie around all of the people and then I just plain forgot. There are some out there somewhere. I'll try to find some and share them.

In other news, I finally finished watching The O.C. Now it's on to Nip/Tuck! I'm so behind...
