On Saturday, Bob and I headed out to Geneva, IL to go to my nephew Jack's birthday party at the Kane County Cougar's Stadium. They were playing the Western Michigan Whitecaps (which...whitecaps? In Michigan?) and won the game 5-2.
It was a fun time--Jack got a t-shirt and a bunch of goodies to hand out to his friends and they even brought him a cake! And at the end of the third inning, the whole stadium sang happy birthday for all of the birthday people in the crowd...and there were a LOT.
Jack also won a pitching challenge for his age group! He's a very good baseball player so this was not much of a surprise for our family--the kid was able to hit pitched balls at the age of 4!
I hope he had a fun birthday--we sure had a good time!

Birthday Weekend
Wow. Quite a full weekend! I got home from work on Friday and Bob was waiting with flowers (!!), brownies (I don't like cake that much), and a present. He got me Lego Indiana Jones (YAYAY!) and had planned a weekend in Milwaukee! It was really cute--he wrapped up a die and a Monopoly hotel together so show that were were staying in a hotel and going gambling. Such a creative fellow!
But first we were meeting friends at Happy Village, a bar just a few block away from home. It was a fun night--pizza, cupcakes, beers, and ping pong! There were lots of pictures taken, but I'll just post this one as an example of my evening:
The next morning, Bob and dropped Sadie off at my mom's house and headed up to Milwaukee. The drive was pretty easy but about 15 minutes after we got to the hotel (after missing the HUGE Hilton sign on the way in (Where's the Hilton??)) a tornado warning went off and the hotel made a building-wide annoucement to stay away from windows since there was a tornado spotted near the zoo. Luckily it all blew over and we headed out to dinner.
Mader's, a typical German restaurant in Milwaukee, was FABULOUS. It was charming inside with the traditionally dressed wait staff, and the food was amazing. Yes, I took a picture of our food--the flickr picture actually notes what everything is if you want to take a peek over there. :)
After dinner, we jumped in another cab (with the craziest cab driver EVER. Seriously. I can't even repeat here what he said to us) and headed over the the Potawatomi Casino. We spent some time playing slots and video poker in the new section of the casino (losing money) and had a couple drinks at the bar, which was really pretty.
The next morning, we drove around Milwaukee and bit before heading home. The minute we got on the highway, the skies opened up and there was the biggest rainstorm I've EVER ridden in. Bob was an amazing driver through some crazy rain. I took a video. :) It's on Flickr too. (there's a way to post photos and video from Flickr. I need to figure that out).
By the time we got to my mom's house to pick up Sadie it was sunny again. Crazy weather.
We got home around 5pm and spent the rest of the evening watching TV and doing a bunch of nothing.
It was a great birthday weekend. I have the best boyfriend ever. Lucky girl, I am.

12 of 12 August 2007
It's 12 of 12 for August (thanks Chad!) and while I've only done this once before, it seems that the 12th of the month is the time for drama at 3am. No pictures this time as it concerned my roommate and his friends and they probably wouldn't have taken kindly to me taking pictures of them! (Don't worry--everything's fine.)
7:45am: woke up to see that no one slept on the pull out last night and put everything away
8:15am: Went to CVS to pick up a diet coke and a plunger (3am roommate drama. Sigh) It's pretty quiet at CVS early on a Sunday morning.
8:45am: Used plunger
11:45am: Finished cooking for a birthday brunch at 12. Brownies and Tortilla de Patatas
12:30am: Was greeted at the door with a shot of sambuka. I then added my contributions to the bar
1:40pm: Terri's contribution to the brunch: french bread, cheese, bacon, tomato, poached egg, & arugula. Yum.
3:15pm: We eventually went outside to enjoy the day and continue celebrating Liz's birthday
3:40pm: Pat the cat joined us
6:40pm: I decided I needed a nap. I set my alarm for9pm so I wouldn't sleep the whole evening away.
10:34pm: Woke up at 10:30. Oops.
10:45pm: Took Sadie for her evening walk. She was tired as well and layed down about 2 blocks from home.
11:00pm: Late-night snack of corn chex and water and ready a book, A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore, until about 12, then back to sleep.

New Camera!
I got a new camera for my birthday and I'm in love with it. It's so fun. It's small and fits in my pocket and has a great zoom and image stabilization and it's pretty and shiny. :)
There's also a fun option that allows you to take pictures where they're all black and white except for one color of your choosing.

This may be something that exists on all other cameras, but I find this totally fun. Not practical for site-seeing, necessarily, but it creates some fun stuff. I took about 50 pictures of Sadie last night trying it out.

Unfortunately the battery has already died (??) so I'll have to play more later. That and I'm at work. Hee.

Birthday Shenanigans
Yesterday started with some birthday greetings from Miss Sadie.

I then went to work and got two (TWO!) flower deliveries--one from my dad and one from my mom and step-father. So pretty!!

After work I went to Lemmings to meet some friends for drinks. And they brought snacks. And cake! Multiple cakes!

And my nephew called to wish me a happy birthday. He's two so it was just about the cutest thing ever. :)
I'm a lucky girl. It was a good day.
