Happy Easter!

I'm at my mom's for Easter this year and spent some time going through some old photos. This is so much fun. We laughed at our 80's hairstyles and the old house with it's shag carpeting and goldenrod appliances. What I woudln't give for some of the lamps she had back then...
In all of the photos I found a couple of Easter-releated ones:

Easter 1978. My sister and I. For some reason, all of the photos from when I was little cut off our toes or our foreheads. Lucky Jandy, she got it both this time!!

Easter 1980: A neighbor (I think) and me with the "Easter Bunny" (aka our neighbor Larry Ross). We were at an Easter egg hunt and I was wearing my awesome tulip coat. But apparently was afraid of the camera? I dunno.

I have more pictures to come. I found some good stuff here and could scan all day. But now I have to head upstairs to visit with the family.

Happy Easter!

Post-Holiday Re-cap

I spent the day yesterday alternating between playing my new Wii (!!!) and my PSP (!!!). Tough day. I was totally spoiled this Christmas. And my Wii injuries are starting to heal. It's kind of sad when you're sore from playing video games. :) Luckily my sore shoulder is better so I must be getting "stronger". But now I have sore thumbs from the PSP. Alas, the troubles of a video-game addict.

Sadie spent the day recovering from playing non-stop with Dakota for 5 days by sleeping. ALL DAY. Like, noon until 10pm, and then through the night. And I had to wake her up in the morning to go out. Little girl was tuckered out.
She loves her new toys though.

7 Days Until Christmas

And I'm almost done with my shopping.

Not my Christmas cards though. I think it's time I just shift over to "Happy New Year" cards since I don't get them out before Christmas very often.

In other holiday fun, go elf yourself (note: very slow program but a lot of fun!)

Or, for more snarky (and not as kid-friendly) holiday fare, check out this "recap" of the classic Rudolph tale.

Happy Holidays!

Halloween

I hope everyone had a fun Halloween. I dressed up my poor dog in her Halloween sweater (it has a ghost on it!) and handed out candy to the kids that came by. Most of them were high school students still wearing their school uniforms, but whatever. It took all of 15 minutes to get rid of my candy.

Then I went to bed at 9pm. My crazy, city-livin' life! Be jealous!

Happy 4th of July!

Ah Chicago. I love that you like to be different.

Chicago has their big firework celebration on the lake on July 3rd--which is convenient for most of us that have the day off on the 4th so we can enjoy holiday fun and then sleep in the next day!

Every year, a group of us heads out to the lake (by the Petrillo Band shell, specifically) to see the show. This year was no exception except that our group was a little smaller than normal. We ate junk food, played cards, and drank random alcoholic drinks.
I, of course, had the camera out and took more pictures than necessary, but that was until...THE INCIDENT.
When handing the camera over to a friend, it got dropped into a full cup of Hawaiian Punch. Oh alas! The camera did not like that. It refused to work for the rest of the night.

Now it's ok, but it'll squeal when on and the LCD screen is funky, but it DOES take pictures. And the ones that I had on the card were fine. But...no firework pictures for me.

The camera's getting sent off to Canon today to see if they can fix it. We'll see how much that costs...I'm hoping since I've only had the thing for 2 weeks they'll take pity on me and say that it's under warranty. But since it was dropped and didn't just "stop working" you never know. Fingers crossed!

But the night was fun. Drinks, friends, and fireworks in the park. Good times.

On the 4th itself, we had a big brunch of greasy food that was spectacular, and my neighborhood went crazy with the fireworks for about 3 hours. CRAZY, I say. I've never seen so many fireworks in such a small area. I think I'm lucky no bottle rockets went in my window.

Sadie did not like it. :) But she's fine.
