Thursday, October 30th

No cooking last night! Instead Bob and I ate leftovers and went out to Quenchers to see his friend's band play--Bear Head.

It was a fun night. Each of the 6 bands played either Misfits or Ramones songs, and Bob and I only stayed for two bands. Don't judge! We still got home at 11. If we had stayed for the whole thing we would have gotten home really late. And it was a school night. :)

Bosstones/Dropkick Concert

Mighty Mighty Bosstones

We got out there after work around 6pm and the place was just starting to fill up. It ended up only being about half-full with most people crowded around the front of the stage and in the folding chairs on the floor. The opening band was a girl punk group that was...loud (am I getting old?) and the Bosstones followed. They were totally fun--all plaid and dance-y. The horns are awesome.

Once it got dark Dropkick came out and they were awesome, as usual. The brought out the bagpipes and good Irish punk fun.

Northerly Island is a pretty cool venue--right on the water, not too big--but it's kind of a pain to get out of. It took me and Gail a while to get a cab home. So plan ahead if you go! :)

Bear Head

Last night Bob and I went to go see one of his friends play at a bar. "Dwayne" and "Zane" form Bear Head, and they were playing with a number of other bands at the US Beer Company. (Random side note: their names are actually Dillon and Zack, but with my horrible memory for names, I was calling Dillon Dwayne for a few weeks after I first met him. It turned into a joke, so by the time I met his brother, we immediately have him a name as well. Thus, Zane. The fun part is that they refer to themselves and Dwayne and Zane when they play. Makes me feel special. :) )

They only played for 30 minutes, but it was pretty cool. They're both really talented musicians so it was fun just watching them play.

And this tool played later in the evening. On the bar. Tool.

The bar was just ok. Kind of skeevy and set up strangely. And the bathrooms were disgusting. I took pictures of them as well but won't post them here. No one needs to see an icky bathroom.

Torn and other Webistes I'm Reading

Not a lot going on here right now. The holidays are over and I'm back at work. Ugh. So, since I'm back at work, here are a number of websites I've been reading lately!

WatchHolly.com
This is a fun daily website that chronicles a women's day-to-day life through a photo and a quick paragraph of what's going on. The fun part is that it started with the announcement of her pregnancy (her first) and you get to watch her progress though that (both mentally and physically) and eventually you get to meet her baby! I recommend going to the archives and starting from the beginning. She's wonderfully honest and charming.

AroundtheWorldforFree.com
This site chronicles the quest of two guys who are making their way around the world strictly through the help of strangers. They have no money and therefore no food and no place to stay. In the past 110 days they've made it to South America, Africa, and Asia with $0. The kindness of people around the world if really heartwarming. They update the site via videos (very well-produced) and I believe that they still do updated on the Today show on the weekends. So you may have heard of them.

Elyse Sewell's LiveJournal
I love ANTM. And I loved Elyse. She's now a successful model and blogs about it, often posting pictures of herself that would embarrass most people. She has a great sense of humor about herself and what she does for a living. She's witty and clever and I get excited every time she posts something new. Although the most recent entry makes me sad. (I deleted the Shins off of my Ipod b/c of it).

And lastly, for those of you that don't want to click on any of the above, a little video that I found fun.

Britney's Live

It seems fitting that my 100th post is on Miss Britney, doesn't it?

Anyhoo, her album's streaming online now. Take a listen. You know you're curious...

Under My Umbrella

Mandy Moore covers Rihanna? yes. and it's good.

Really.

(well, it's good to a girl that just listed to a country album and is currently going through Diet Coke withdrawal)
